On 29.04.2023 there was the boxing gala “UGRO GLADIATORS IV” at Ebertbad in Oberhausen. The location, a former public swimming pool, knew how to inspire from the start and created a worthy setting for the boxing gala. All 220 available seats were sold. The boxing gala was organized by the UGRO boxing team around Kai-Uwe Großjohann and Talip Ipek.
There were seven boxing fights in total and BODO MGMT is proud to have organized a boxing highlight. In the super lightweight (63,5KG) there was a top-class clash, scheduled for 4 rounds, between Mert Caliskan from Duisburg and Aleksander Jasiewicz from Ledziny in Poland. Both boxers wanted to significantly improve their boxrec position with a victory. Mert Caliskan (1-0-0) started as a slight favorite against Aleksander Jasiewicz (5-2-0) due to his very successful amateur career.
After both brought the agreed limit on the scales and prepared themselves physically and mentally for the fight in the catacombs, the gong for the first round fell at a late hour. It developed in the first round a fight with unintentionally high speed, because no one wanted to fall short. Mert Caliskan came through once very well and made Aleksander Jasiewicz wobble for a second. In the following rounds Aleksander Jasiewicz became stronger, but Mert Caliskan seemed to have a suitable answer for many things and decided the rounds in his favor. Here also showed the class that has already distinguished him as an amateur boxer.
The unintentionally high tempo took its toll on the protagonists in the ring in the last round, in which both physically fading in the last rounds. In the end, it was a unanimous decision victory for Mert Caliskan from Boxteam Duisburg. His coach Salih Yildirim was satisfied with the performance and the development of his protégé and is already looking forward to the third professional fight.
Maurice Weber and Tobias Brandes from BODO MGMT congratulated the athletes to their performance onsite. The fight was a highlight of the evening and also caused enthusiasm among the spectators.
